A new Nintendo Switch 2 leak showcases one of its detachable Joy-con controllers, including fine details such as buttons and other peripheral attachments. This comes in the form of a couple of images from an alleged Chinese leaker on the social media website Baidu. Thus far, we have seen many leaks surrounding the upcoming hybrid console from Nintendo.

However, this might be the clearest, most up-close look at the hardware we have gotten yet. Here is everything to know about the latest Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-con leak.

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-con leak offers the closest look yet at the controller

The leaked images of what looks like the left Joy-con were posted to the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit by Redditor u/SwordfishAgile3472. Perhaps the most unsurprising part of this design is how similar it is to the original Nintendo Switch Joy-cons. For one, despite the photos showcasing a side profile, the analog stick and D-pad are visible. The Joy-con itself seems to be black in color, while the magnetic rails are blue.

The view from the side shows the SL/SR buttons, which are on the current Nintendo Switch Joy-cons. There are some interesting new additions to note. Above the SL button, there seems to be a mechanic that releases the Joy-con from the display unit or grip it is attached to. Between the SL and SR buttons, there appears to be a Sync button akin to the original design.

Furthermore, there is also an optical camera between the two buttons, which was not there on the predecessor. Some fans speculate this is not an IR sensor but would allow using the Joy-con as a mouse on a PC instead. Lastly, the black crevice between the button and the sensor looks to be the rail that holds the Joy-cons in place while attached to the system.

Turning the controller over, we also get a look at the triggers, including what looks like a button that releases the magnetic rail to detach the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-con. The back details the Nintendo logo alongside other minute information such as hardware serial numbers. Interestingly, these helped prove that this leak was legitimate.

X user @necrolipe revealed that someone entered the serial number found on the back of this image into the official Nintendo Technical Support website, which accepts it as valid. This means these Joy-cons come from a real retail unit — in other words, the console has officially entered heavy production. With all this said, an official leak is undoubtedly around the corner, and fans cannot wait.
