With the Nintendo Switch 2 rumor mill on a roll, leaks have surfaced concerning details surrounding its OS (Operating System), suggesting Nintendo's return to a fan-favorite format. Furthermore, the system will reportedly incorporate a new feature — Mouse controls — that will set it apart from the competition.
Both paint an intriguing picture of Nintendo's hotly anticipated next-gen console, assuming these details are true. Read on to know more.

Nintendo Switch 2 allegedly received a revamped OS with the ability to use Joy-cons as mouse controls
The rumor was posted to the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit by Redditor Switchboard2. They claim to have seen the images featuring the console's OS, suggesting that it will be a "modernized" version of the Nintendo Wii U operating system in terms of looks and design.

Players can supposedly feature their games in rows of 10, with menu music and customizable animated backgrounds being available. This is more or less how the pre-Switch consoles, namely the Wii U and 3DS, menu designs were, so it seems like Nintendo is going back to those iconic aesthetics.
This would be in stark contrast to the minimalistic, plain design of the original Nintendo Switch home menu. Furthermore, the user profile seems to be featured on the top-left side of the screen.
The leaker also highlighted another feature of the console that has not been touched upon yet. They claimed that a mouse cursor was visible in one of the OS screenshot images, suggesting players might be able to navigate through it like they would with the Wii pointer.
However, instead of a pointer, they will likely be using the Joy-con controllers as a mouse, which is very similar to what the Lenovo Legion Go handheld PC does. This is intriguing as this rumor lines up with another recent leak that showcased an optical sensor on the side of the Joy-con.

Since the Joy-con leak has been confirmed to be legitimate by the Joy-con serial number being accepted as valid on Nintendo's official Tech Support website, this OS rumor may have some credibility to back it up. That said, take all information here with a grain of salt since it is unofficial and Nintendo is yet to confirm anything.
