The Nintendo Switch 2 remains one of the most anticipated gaming consoles at the moment. Even though most believed that the Switch 2 would be announced this year, Nintendo recently revealed that the console won't come out before the first quarter of 2025. However, the bigger question that many gamers have right now is what the launch title could be.
While there is no official confirmation about this from Nintendo, several leaks have suggested that the console's launch day title might be Metroid Prime 4.

Nintendo Switch 2 expected release window and launch title leaked
A popular Chinese insider, through a recent social media post, claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be announced in January 2025. Continuing further, he mentioned that this meant the console might be released in March 2025. This is the same person who previously leaked the details of the Nintendo Direct June 2024 issue.
Anonymous Nintendo insider and gamer who uses the username @SamusHunter2 on social media platform X, recently posted a tweet that made the Nintendo community go wild. Hunter claims to be the number 1 fan of the Metroid franchise. Wishing everyone a great holiday season, he claimed that the gamer will not delve into any "hunting space pirates" as of now and will instead wait for Nintendo Switch 2's release date for that.
This might as well be a hint about Metroid Prime 4's chance of becoming a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2. The exact tweet read:
"I wish you a happy holiday season, spend it with those you care about most and relax that soon after there will be lots of good information to discuss."
"What am I going to do? I won't be hunting space pirates, for that I will wait until Switch 2's launch day..."
But what can we expect from the upcoming Nintendo handheld? Let's find out.
Nintendo Switch 2 leaked dimensions and hardware design
A recent social media post by Towkay Vortex revealed the potential design of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Vortex posted a few pictures and claimed that these have been sent over to him by manufacturers of Switch 2's accessories. While the image simply shows a handheld console inside a blue silicone case, a closer look does reveal a few more details.
Interestingly, the leaked image shows that the console might have multiple Type-C ports, which was something gamers, who played in table-top mode, wanted. The presence of a Type-C port on the bottom of the console restricted gamers from plugging the charger in while gaming. However, this new leak from Towkay Vortex revealed that there will be a Type-C port on the bottom as well as the top of the console this time around.
Another change to notice is the U-shaped kickstand compared to the already existing rectangular kickstand. The third major hardware change that can be seen from these leaked images is the presence of a mysterious button on the back of the console. From the looks of it, this button might the the one that will be used to remove the Joy-Cons. However, since these are just leaks, nothing can be said for certain at the moment.
