Nothing has been releasing back-to-back best-sellers with the Nothing Phone 2a and the CMF Phone 1. Their success in the market can be attributed to the fact that they pack quite a punch as budget and mid-range smartphones. Despite being priced differently, they share some similarities and perform really well on the benchmarks.

The Nothing Phone 2a and the CMF Phone 1 have fairly different specifications but share some similarities in terms of display size and battery. The Phone 2a gets a flexible AMOLED, which is not that different compared to the Super AMOLED display on the latter.
They're both very bright screens, with the Phone 2a having a peak brightness of 1300 nits and the CMF Phone 1 having a peak of 2000 nits. This makes them perfect for outdoor viewing.

The Nothing Phone 2a has a much better and more natural quality to its images compared to pictures taken on the CMF Phone 1. Based on reviews and samples, I saw that the phone tends to perform better with close-up shots and is able to produce better detail while maintaining the color tones of the image.
I feel the photos on the CMF Phone look a little too saturated and less natural. But being a budget phone, this can be expected. However, it does have relatively good 4K video quality at 30fps, but it's certainly not as good as the Phone 2a.
Based on what I've seen, I noticed that both phones capture really good close-up shots and can produce a great amount of detail. However, I'd say the video capabilities on both options are average and not all that great. They do have detail and good coloring, but it's nothing out of the ordinary and has more to do with the sensor.
Overall, the Nothing Phone 2a has the better camera and would be my choice if I were to choose between the two. It captures great detail and looks far better than the latter. Moreover, it has a wide-angle camera which isn't available on the CMF Phone 1.
