Rumors about the Nvidia RTX 5060 have already surfaced online, with several sources hinting at what to expect from the next 1080p gaming GPU from Team Green. Multiple leaks have suggested a reveal at CES 2025, where CEO Jensen Huang is set to deliver his keynote on January 6 at 6.30 PM Pacific Time. Nvidia's 60-class offering has been the most successful offering for the last ten years, and gamers are pretty excited to find out what the next iteration might bring to the table.

Read on to find out everything that has been leaked about the 5060.

Note: This article is primarily based on leaks, and some details may change following the official reveal.

The leaked specs of the RTX 5060 aren't particularly confidence-instilling, to say the least. It is expected to have a lot in common with the RTX 4060, a card that has been criticized for its limited VRAM capacity and rendering improvements over the last generation. Gamers have criticized the leaks on social media platforms, hinting at how much another 8 GB video card would be resented by the community.

The GPU will likely be powered by the GB206 graphics chip. The leaked specs list also suggests a slight overhaul in terms of CUDA core count. Moreover, the VRAM type might be upgraded to GDDR7, which would deliver a boost to the total bandwidth.

However, the video memory is rumored to stay locked to just 128-bit, which could mean incremental improvements over the last generation.

The leaked specs for the upcoming 60-class card are as follows:

When is the RTX 5060 expected to launch?

Videocardz recently reported on the launch dates of the upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs. As per a post on the credible Chinese forum Board Channels, the upcoming lineup will likely be launched in close succession to each other, unlike previous generations. The leak suggests that a new GPU could be launched every month, with the 5060 and 5060 Ti expected to arrive sometime in March 2025. This suggests we are barely three months away from the launch date of the 5060.

Given Nvidia might not consider massive upgrades or downgrades to the specs list of the upcoming 5060, we are expecting the GPU to be priced much like the 4060. Last time, Nvidia cut the price of the 60-class by $30 while also reducing the VRAM buffer. This time, there doesn't seem to be enough cost-cutting measures to justify another price reduction. Hence, the $299 price tag should stay relevant for the RTX 5060.

What is the expected performance of the RTX 5060?

In terms of performance, we could be looking at a slight bump over the last generation across the board in both ray tracing and rasterization. Nvidia has highly suggested that budget cards would excessively rely on upscaling technologies to deliver extra framerates. Both the 4060 and the 4060 Ti are designed to work best with DLSS 3.0.

Given how Nvidia is rumored to launch an improved DLSS 4.0 technology with neural rendering, this DNA could translate directly to the next-gen GPU. Hence, a healthy guess would be 15-20% improvements in raw rendering performance with even higher gains when upscaled. Do note this could still keep the GPU focused just on 1080p gaming.
