More Nvidia RTX 5070 leaks have surfaced, with a new host of information hinting at the underlying hardware and power budget of the GPU. Industry insiders have previously mentioned that it will be part of the first wave of Blackwell cards that are expected to hit shelves and will likely be introduced in early January. Most details point to a launch at CES, where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is expected to deliver his keynote on January 6 at 6.30 PM. That's where we are expecting to see the next 70-class card.

In this article, we have compiled all the information that has been revealed about the 5070.

Note: Most of the information shared is based on unconfirmed leaks, please take it with a grain of salt.

A recent leak from a renowned industry insider has revealed much of the hardware the RTX 5070 might pack. These details come from tipster @kopite7kimi, who is particularly well-known in the GPU and CPU market for accurate predictions. Most of their leaks materialize, which gives us fairly high confidence regarding what to expect on January 6.

The details point to the GB205 graphics chip for the 5070. The 5070 Ti, on the other hand, is expected to be powered by the GB203, the same chip inside the 5080. The GB204 might be kept aside for now to power a future Super variant.

Besides this, the base 5070 might have 6,144 CUDA cores, which is a downgrade from the 4070 Super, which is powered by 7,368 CUDA cores. All of the cores on the newer card will be more powerful, which could theoretically contribute to higher performance capabilities.

In terms of video memory, the card is expected to have 12 GB of GDDR7 limited to a 192-bit bus. The card is expected to draw 250W under full load.

The possible specs of the upcoming 5070 are:

When is the RTX 5070 expected to launch?

Per multiple sources, the first wave of Blackwell-based RTX 50 series GPUs will be introduced in early 2025. An unveil is likely set for January 6 at Jensen Huang's keynote.

The exact dates for availability haven't been widely discussed yet. However, given previous launch trends, we can make some educated guesses. The 90 and 80-class cards will likely be the first to hit the market, with the 5070 set for a later date. If we look at Nvidia's launch itineraries from the past few years at CES, a launch window of late January to March 2025 makes the most sense.

What is the expected price of the RTX 5070?

Given the more modest specs of the RTX 5070, it is safe to assume that the card will target a similar price range as the Ada Lovelace-based 4070 and 4070 Super. Nvidia initially introduced the cards at $599, with the non-Super variant getting discounted to $549 following the launch of the slightly more capable supercharged option.

A $549-559 price point could make perfect sense for the upcoming GPU because the 5070 could likely push performance levels close to the RTX 4070 Ti and 4070 Ti Super. These GPUs currently sell for $799 and more. However, if we are being a bit optimistic, even the original $499 price point for the base 70-class card could seem plausible. The 3070 and 2070 Super both launched at this price.

What is the expected performance of the RTX 5070?

Given the leaked specs list, we can make an educated guess about the performance metrics. Historically, Nvidia has targeted massive gen-on-gen improvements with their base 70-class cards. The 3070, for instance, delivered better performance than the older flagship, the 2080 Ti. The 4070, at launch, was about as powerful as the RTX 3080. The refreshed 4070 Super is about as capable as the 3080 Ti.

Things are a bit different this generation, however. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is about 36% more powerful than the original 4070. The Ti variant has been positioned as a premium GPU, while the cheaper cards are mid-range. A good guess would be that the 5070 would be as capable as the Ti Super card. Given the leaked specs, we don't believe it would match the rendering prowess of the RTX 4080.

Overall, the RTX 5070 card could be a rendering powerhouse for 1440p and 4K gaming. In the mid-range, the GPU could be the best bet if Nvidia pairs it with even more capable upscaling and ray tracing technologies. However, pricing would play a significant role in deciding how it is perceived at launch.
