What does the "Your Account does not have access to Path of Exile 2" error mean?

As the error suggests, your account doesn't have access to Path of Exile 2 Early Access, and there are a few reasons for that. The first of which could be server issues. Path of Exile 2 crossed over 400K concurrent users on Steam within hours after its release, and the excess load could potentially be causing problems.

The second reason could be that your account actually doesn't have an Early Access key. Getting the key is not as simple as buying it from Steam or another store.

Once you buy the game, you will receive a key, which must be claimed on the website. You are then supposed to go to the Steam client and enter the key there to play the game on Early Access, which has been further explained in detail in the section below.

How to potentially fix the "Your Account does not have access to Path of Exile 2" error

If you have registered your Early Access key correctly, the issue is probably a server-side one, and there's not much you can do other than wait for the server to come back online.

That said, if you didn't register your Early Access key, you must follow these steps to potentially get the game running:

  • Buy the game from either Steam or Epic and keep the account details handy.
  • Go to the Path of Exile 2's website and log in with your existing or new account.
  • Next, click on Home and select My Account.
  • On your account page, look for a page called, "Path of Exile 2 Early Access" on the right side. Click on that page and link your Steam/Epic account there.
  • Once that's done, you will see a new key there.
  • Go to Steam/Epic launcher and activate the key there.

If this goes smoothly, the game should no longer say, "Your Account does not have access to Path of Exile 2 Early Access."
