Xbox might be adding the option to stream video games via Nvidia Geforce Now without requiring a separate app to hop onto the service. This is a big step towards the future of both Microsoft and Nvidia's cloud gaming, given their services haven't grown as fast as previously envisioned. While both companies offer their own competing options, it is interesting to see such a collaboration that could likely announce the death toll of Xbox Cloud Gaming.

A lot of things are happening with video gaming streaming pretty quickly this summer. Yesterday, I reported Microsoft and Amazon's partnership to bring Xbox Cloud to the Fire TV Stick. Today, we have another leak of Nvidia joining forces with Microsoft.

The latest rumors come from well-known Spanish-language tipster eXtas1s. He took to X to announce the latest developments. Previously, this leaker has revealed tons of information about game launches and hardware, and most have materialized. Hence, we can expect the latest news to have some credibility.

More details on Xbox adding Nvidia Geforce Now cloud gaming service

As per screenshots shared by @eXtas1stv, the landing page to every video game will now have a button to stream the game via the Nvidia Geforce Now button. Cloud gaming doesn't require any extra downloads, and you can hop onto the game straight away.

The screenshots show the service is supported in Street Fighter 6, Biohazard Village (the Japanese name for Resident Evil: Village), and Call of Duty: Warzone. We believe more games will be supported once and if the feature drops.

I believe this is a good advancement for Microsoft. Xbox Cloud Gaming's single biggest drawback is the lack of support in multiple regions. Geforce Now could help fill up some of that gap.

Moreover, Geforce Now requires you to actually own the video games in order to stream them. With a direct integration into the Xbox, you should be able to skip this part thanks to Game Pass.

Nvidia's service employs up to RTX 4080 graphics cards. This results in much better 4K gaming experiences. Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming, on the other hand, is limited to the Xbox Series X. This could result in much better streaming experiences thanks to the partnership.

Microsoft had been standing still with its cloud streaming service for way too long. It's good to finally see some progress being made in this domain.
