Specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra have surfaced online. Thanks to everything already known about the flagship, there's little surprise as to what to expect anymore. Much like the recent iterations of the best Android from the Korean phone maker, the S25 will be an iterative improvement rather than a complete overhaul of the lineup.
The latest details about the device's details come from industry insider @heyitsyogesh who shares detailed information about smartphones pretty regularly. His leaks have almost always materialized, which means the details aren't to be taken lightly.
What are the leaked specs of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will share a ton in common with its S24 sibling. The biggest changes lie in the processing chip. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the first SoC that brings the more capable Oryon chips to smartphones.
One of the primary improvements with the new chip is vastly improved GPU performance. It will likely match Apple's A18 Pro in gaming performance, thereby bringing AAA gaming experiences to smartphones as well.
Other than this, all of the other hardware specifications remain the same. You will get a 6.8-inch QHD 120 Hz panel with the new display. In terms of cameras, the quad setup — with the 200 MP primary, 50 MP ultrawide, 50 MP secondary, and a 10 MP macro — will be retained.
The memory details aren't going up this year either. The S25 Ultra will max out at 1 TB of flash storage. You will get regular USB 3.2 connectivity and UFS 4.0 standards. What's improving is the on-board RAM. Instead of 12 GB on the older phones, the S25 Ultra will now bring up to 16 GB of memory.
In terms of the cell powering the device, you'll get the same 5,000 mAh cell with 45W wired charging. Wireless charging speeds — at 25W — aren't improving either. The phone will pack the new OneUI 7 software on day one, which is based on the latest Android 15 software.
Here's what we know about the S25 Ultra's hardware for now:
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite
- Memory: Up to 16 GB
- Storage: Up to 1 TB
- Display: 6.8-inch 120 Hz QHD LTPO AMOLED panel
- Cameras: 200 MP primary + 50 MP ultrawide + 50 MP + 10 MP quad camera setup
- Battery: 5,0000 mAh
- Charging: 45W wired, 25W wireless, 4.5W reverse wireless
- Software: Android 15-based OneUI 7
What are the rumored features of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Not much is coming to the new S25 Ultra in terms of features. However, the added memory with the powerful processor will likely bring extra performance to video games and facilitate even better multitasking.
On top of this, there are rumors the phone might go back to the original rounded-edge design, which could be a welcome move for a lot of enthusiasts.
Other than this, the new Galaxy AI version could have some new features to offer as well. There have been rumors that Samsung is planning to completely revamp it with an LLM-powered Bixby assistant to take on Apple Intelligence and its integration with Siri.
What is the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
The Galaxy S25 Ultra could get costlier this year, given that its specs sheet is being packed with extra hardware. Specifically, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset could be the reason for a $100-200 extra on the MSRP. However, if Samsung was to launch a variant with their optimized 3 nm Exynos chipset on the side as well, we could have a slightly cheaper option.
For now, we expect the S25 Ultra to be priced anywhere between $1,299 to $1,499. The phone can be pretty expensive when compared to other Android flagships and even iPhones.
What is the expected launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Industry insiders have speculated about the release date of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. For now, we have heard rumors that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will likely be on January 22, 2025. This is where the company is expected to reveal the new phones.
South Korean media has reported that the phone could be available to pre-order from January 24 with formal availability starting from February 4. We don't have concrete information about the exact launch details of the upcoming phone, however, free upgrades to a higher tier memory and storage configurations could be on the table for pre-orders.
