The Motorola Razr+ 2024 costs the same as the last generation Razr+/Razr 40 Ultra and is available for a starting price of $999 in North America. However, extra attention should be given to the fact that it now comes with 12GB RAM instead of the 8GB on last year's variant.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, on the other hand, comes with a larger cover display and more storage on the baseline model. The storage type also gets an upgrade as it now has 256GB UFS 4.0 storage instead of the UFS 3.1 on the previous-generation Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, with close to a year of launch already passed, the smartphone is available for a starting price of $850.

Both clamshell foldables come with two AMOLED screens. However, the Razr+ 2024 has a slightly bigger 4-inch cover display, while the Z Flip 5 has a relatively smaller 3.4-inch panel.

Both the cover displays also accommodate the main camera sensors and the flashlight unit. However, Motorola has much faster 165Hz peak refresh rate support on both screens, whereas the Z Flip 4 only supports 120Hz peak refresh rate support on the main foldable display. It has no fast refresh support on the cover unit.

The Razr+ 2024 also has 2400 nits of peak brightness, which means that it's more visible under direct sunlight. Hence, the Motorola offering is a better option for those who prefer versatile displays on their foldable.

Both smartphones also come with loads of AI features. That said, you won't be experiencing much slowdown on either device, and you can use any one for occasional gaming and normal usage.

Both smartphones feature three cameras, with two main camera sensors and one selfie camera on the internal foldable display.

Motorola's offering, however, has a higher resolution 50MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto sensor that produces crisper details and helps in shooting far-off objects.

The Samsung smartphone, on the other hand, has a pair of 12MP cameras and a 10MP selfie lens. Under direct sunlight or good lighting conditions, the camera setup is capable of clicking highly detailed photos and videos but struggles under low light.

The Razr+ 2024 has a 4000mAh battery, which also supports a faster 45W wired fast charging. The Z Flip 5 falls slightly short in this department as it has a lower 3700mAh battery with 25W charging support. Both phones support 15W wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Verdict

Thanks to its better display, more RAM and battery, and versatile camera setup, the Razr+ 2024 is our pick between the two smartphones, especially since they are priced close to each other.

However, the Z Flip 5 is usually available for less than $800 during various promotional sales and would be a better buy if you have a limited budget.
