What's the story?
EA Sports recently announced the top 100-rated players for FIFA 18, the latest instalment of the extremely popular game and on top of the charts are two familiar faces -- Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have a rating of 94 and 93 respectively.
The list has a few notable omissions but the one that sticks out like a sore thumb is the exclusion of Paris St. Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who recently signed for the Paris outfit after a big-money move from AS Monaco.
His rating is yet to be revealed but it is certain that it will below the 84 mark, given the fact that on 100th position is Mbappe's former teammate Bernardo Silva with an overall of 84. The young Frenchman had a groundbreaking year in the 2016-17 season and he is widely regarded as one of the biggest names to watch out for in world football, but when it comes to the world of FIFA, he is yet to enter the big leagues.

In case you didn't know
The 18-year-old recently became the second-most expensive player of all-time after securing a move to PSG, with the sum reported to be around €180 million. Before him, the Parisian side had smashed the transfer record for Brazilian forward Neymar, purchasing his services from FC Barcelona for a whopping €222 million.
Mbappe, in FIFA 17, had a lowly 71 rating, featuring 81 pace and 74 dribbling stats, and after an impressive season, EA gave him a rating of 89 in their Team of the Season card.
The heart of the matter
The Frenchman may not have won any major trophies in his fledgeling career but his exclusion from the top 100 comes as a huge shocker, especially after considering the fact that he is the world's second-most expensive player ever.
However, there have been reports of him receiving an 83 rating in FIFA 18, according to leaking images from the game's demo version.
What's next?
FIFA 18 will release on September 29 later this month on all major consoles and platforms.
Author's take
It is indeed surprising to see Mbappe not making the cut for the Top 100 players in the world, especially after his path-breaking performances last season and big-money transfer. However, one can be assured that his potential stats in the latest edition will be huge and in the career mode, he will be one of the most valuable players in the game.
