Looks like we’ll be seeing more of Sonic next year with Sonic Runners all set to launch for smartphones in 2015. SEGA producer Takashi Iizuka announced the game at a recent Sonic fan event in Tokyo, Japan. He did not release any other info besides this, but Famitsu has stated that fans can expect more information regarding Sonic Runners in January.
The last game from the Sonic Team was Sonic: Lost World which released back in 2013. Since then they have released a non Sonic title as well as supervised work on 2014’s Sonic Booms but the game was mostly developed by Big Red Button and Sanzaru Games.
The team was back in the news again after a German toy fair promo announced that a new Sonic game will be out for the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U in 2015. This turned out to be false and SEGA quickly denounced the info as incorrect. But a recent rumour posted on Sonic Stadium did turn out to be true with SEGA announcing that the next Sonic title is in fact Sonic Runners. It will be interesting to see if the game plays like the endless runner title Sonic Dash or if it will tie into the ongoing Sonic television show. This was done with the previous Sonic mobile games like Sonic Dash where the developers tied the universes together. Small additions were added to the game like levels and bosses from other Sonic titles.
Sonic Runners will be hitting smartphones in Japan sometime in 2015. Fans can expect some more info on the game in January.
