India won the second medal at the IPC Athletics World Championships at Doha after Amit Kumar Saroha sealed the silver medal in the men’s club throw F51 event on Thursday and in the process, qualified for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janerio next year, Zee news reports.
Amit produced an effort of 25.44m in the final, finishing 0.85m short of the gold medal winner, Serbia’s Zeljko Dimitrijevic, who created a new championships record with an effort of 26.29m. He was joined by fellow countrymen, Milos Mati who won the bronze with an effort of 25.40m.
The silver is India’s second medal at the Championships after Devendra Jhajarai also finished second in the Men’s F46 javelin throw event on Tuesday. A 15-member Indian contingent have travelled for the games, which concludes tomorrow.
