About Men's FIH Pro League 2020
The 2020 Men's FIH Pro League will be the second edition of the Men's FIH Pro League. This is a field hockey championship for men's national teams which will start in January and is set to finish in June 2020
The 2019 Pro League served as qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The top four teams of 2019 championship qualified directly for the Olympic qualification games of 2020 that will be taking place prior to the Tokyo edition.
Qualification
A total of nine teams were scheduled to compete in the tournament, with the matches taking place in a round robin format with home and away matches. One of the nine teams, Pakistan, was banned by the FIH after they told the world organizing body that they will not be able to play their scheduled first three games.
This made the league a eight team affair. The eight teams that are part of the tournament are Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, England, Germany, Argentina, New Zealand, and Spain.
Hockey India had decided to withdraw themselves from this tournament in July 2017 as they made a better estimation of their chances for qualifying for the Summer Olympics if they play in the Hockey Series.
