The 53rd John Deere Classic will be held at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, from July 1 to 7, with Pro-Am on July 1 and 3 and the main first-to-final round on July 4 to 7 in 2024. The event will have a purse of $8 million. The inaugural event, which was first held in 1971 in Davenport, Iowa, was known as the Quad Cities Open Invitational.
It has changed names several times over the years due to various sponsorships or gratitude, such as from 1975 to 1979 when it was known as the "Ed McMahon-Jaycees Quad Cities Open" because the event was about to be cancelled but was aided by Ed McMahon and the Council of Jaycees. The event became the "John Deere Classic" in 1999.

D. A. Weibring Golf Resources, with PGA Tour Design Services, created the layout for the TPC Deere Run. It is managed by the PGA Tour as a part of their Tournament Players Club (TPC) network of 32 golf courses.
Weibring, a native of Illinois, is a professional golfer with 13 wins, including five on the PGA Tour. The 18-hole course is built with Weibring's point of view of a perfect golf course with everything in balance and as per the PGA's standards. For a golf tournament, the greens' playability and difficulty are appropriate, with a touch of Mid-Mississippi River Valley beautiful scenery.
