Why was Round 2 of the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship suspended?

The 2024 Amundi Evian Championship is underway at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian Les Bains, France. The second round of the tournament was scheduled to be played on July 12. However, because of unfortunate circumstances, the play has been suspended.

Evian Les Bains and its surrounding areas are seeing heavy storms which led to the suspension of play. The storms posed danger to the course and players were evacuated at 4:23 PM local time. Most players had speculated that the storm would clear out in an hour or two, allowing them to be back on the course. However, the storm continued to pose a threat, prompting the LPGA Tour's tournament committee to suspend play for the rest of the day at 6:09 PM local time.

The second round of the event is crucial as a halfway cut will be imposed and will see only the top 65 players including ties make it through to play the third and fourth rounds. The 2024 Amundi Evian Championship's second round will continue tomorrow at 5:30 AM local time. The third round is expected to continue on the same day starting from 10:45 AM local time.
