The Open is one of the tournaments known for its tradition and culture. The R&A organises the Open Championship, an annual golf championship that began in 1860. It is the final of the four major championships held annually, and it takes place on the weekend of the third Friday in July.
Every year, the tournament takes place on a different course. Ten of the fourteen that have been utilised so far are included in the rotation. Every course listed on the schedule is a link course.
