The Presidents Cup is one of the most unique golf tournaments. Just like the Ryder Cup, it's played between two teams, the USA team against the international team. The difference is that the international team doesn't consist of any European team members. The event takes place in the USA or countries the global team represents; they change yearly. In 2024, the Presidents Cup is set to take place from the 26th to the 29th of September at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The Presidents Cup occurs every two years. In the beginning, the tournament used to take place in even-numbered years, like 1994, 1996 and so on, while the Ryder Cup used to be held in odd-numbered years. Unfortunately, both tournament years were affected due to the September 11 attacks, so it started taking place in the odd-numbered years. However, because of 2020 COVID-19, the tournament again started taking place in even-numbered years.
The Presidents Cup 2024 Course details
The Royal Monreal Golf Club is set to host this year's Presidents Cup. The Royal Montreal Golf Club is considered one of North America's oldest golf clubs. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023.
It was founded by eight men in Montreal back in 1873; the club was given the title of 'Roya' after and by Queen Victoria in 1884. This club has witnessed some of the finest golf moments, including Mrs. William Wallace Watson being elected as the first female member of North American Golf. The club relocated to first at Dixie in Dorval in 1896 and later to its current location in Ile-Bozard, Quebec, in 1959.
After the relocation, Dick Wilson was appointed to design its 45 holes, which include the world-famous Blue Course. The Royal Monreal Golf Club is known to host big tournaments, such as the Canadian Open in 2014 and two previous President's Cups in 2007 and 2024.
