Disciplined Bears dominate

Louie

One week after embarrassing themselves in the Detroit disaster, the Bears played their best game of the season and thoroughly decimated a hapless Vikings team that might as well join the suck for Luck sweepstakes. The Bears played a clean, crisp, & efficient game that I forgot was possible after last week. Somebody apparently got the straight jacket for Mike Martz again, and the result was a 115.9 quarterback rating for Jay Cutler in the 39-10 romp. Don’t you just wish Martz could have called games like this all season? It’s pretty amazing what Cutler can do when given time & doesn’t take 7 step drops all game, isn’t it?

And people are still kicking to Devin Hester. How’s that working out for you, Leslie Frazier?

Here are some other rapid reactions to the game that brought the Bears back to .500…

Cutler hit Devin Hester on a beautiful 48 yard bomb to get the festivities going early. The line protected #6, and Cuts was able to deliver a perfectly thrown ball to Hester in tight coverage. You pretty much knew right then that this Vikings team was in a for Debo like beat down. And what do you know, the Bears got the play in without any problems. Perhaps they called my guy who sells headsets and stopped looking for bargain basement garbage? Whatever happened, the clown show was gone for a night.

The offensive line did work all night. Chris Williams played the best game I’ve ever seen him play. And you didn’t hear Lance Louis’ name all night. I watched him for much of the night, and the Bears might have to keep him at right tackle. When Gabe Carimi comes back, why not move the Bear Jew to left tackle and keep Louis at right? It’s something to ponder, and a reason to get J’Marcus Webb’s bum ass off the field. And kudos to Lovie for making sure Frank Oh My God didn’t see the field. This is the type of accountability that was so impressive about Lovie’s 2010 season. The line allowed the Bears to play fast, and get into a rhythm. This was the best the offense looked since the Seahawks playoff game last year. You only heard Jared Allen’s name when he said he hailed from Culinary Institute (or whatever bullshit school he made up) and had the fumble recovery. The line did a masterful job ensuring that Captain white trash didn’t sit on Cutler’s dome other than the sack-fumble recovery to start the half.

Whoever talked Mike Martz into taking his medication again deserves some credit. Martz was reigned in, and the reckless maniac game plan was nowhere in sight. Jay Cutler’s body wants to take this time to thank that person. Cutler’s 2nd TD throw to Dane Sanzenwhitey was a thing of beauty and proof that if you just give #6 time, he will dissect teams and…Even with this group of receivers.

And speaking of their receivers…

Roy Williams is no longer in the witness protection program! That was nice to see, huh? Although, the first down signal after every first down catch is the absolute worst. Hey Roy, let’s keep the celebrations for touchdowns only. Cool? Sweet.

Even when the Vikings scored early in the 3rd, the Bears came right back and made them pay. You want to score on us?! Okay, take this home with you…

Devin Hester again shined on the big stage of national television. He has struggled mightily at receiver, but he was a star on this night. And why the Vikings kicked to him is anyone’s guess. He now has 17 return touchdowns, which is two off from Deion Sander’s NFL record. If teams keep kicking to him, he may break that record next week in London. He is RIDICULOUS, and is 100% a hall of fame player. When you write the history of the league, you can’t write it without the name Devin Hester. It’s that simple. So incredibly nasty.

Devin Hester

I wish I could have a bad knee like Julius Peppers. The freak was all over the field after Lovie listed him as doubtful. I liked Lovie’s spiteful move towards the Vikes after last year’s Favre debacle in Minnesota. The defense harrassed Donovan McNabb’s corpse all night, and sacked him 5 times. You have to create pressure to make this defense work.

And hey, the Bears executed a blitz properly! I had to rewind my TV a few times to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.

It was a pleasant sight seeing Chris Harris the Tweetmaster & Brandon Meriweather the head hunter on the sideline. I don’t know how good of a combo Chris Conte and Major Wright will be, but they didn’t get beat deep. That’s a start, right?

Oh, and did you see 2nd round pick Stephen Paea? If he can play like that, someone needs to find out why he was inactive up until this point.

It was a solid game for the Bears against a team that was begging you to beat their ass. At 3-3, they have another must win vs the Bucs next Sunday. If they win, they’ll be right where they were a year ago. And those funeral services I started last week can be delayed for a few more weeks.
