The New York Jets are in the cornerback market; today they added Leon McFadden off waivers.
McFadden was a 2013 third-round selection of the Cleveland Browns and found himself in a tough position as the team’s new regime decided to draft CB Justin Gilbert to pair opposite all-pro Joe Haden.
He was an asset in coverage for the team in 2013, but did commit a large number of penalties, something the Jets have recently been familiar with (see: CB Kyle Wilson). If McFadden can become comfortable in Rex Ryan’s plug-and-play defense, the Jets will be relieved from some of the conerback woe they are currently dealing with. At just 23 years old, he could have some staying power.
