Jade Carey is a professional American artistic gymnast. Her full name is Jade Ashtyn Carey, and she was born on May 27, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. She began her professional career with a breathtaking performance in the 2016 Junior Olympic Nationals where she performed a tucked Kasamatsu, a move which is now named The Carey after her. Soon, she qualified for the World Gymnastics Championships, where she won two silver medals at the 2017 edition.
Overall, Carey has won seven medals at the World Gymnastics Championships including three gold, and has won five medals at the NCAA Championships performing for the Oregon State Beavers of the Oregon State University. Carey also represented the USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she won a gold medal in the Floor Exercise category. Jade Carey’s father, Brian Carey, is also her coach. She has been trained and mentored by her father for a long time. Not only her father is very supportive of her daughter but is also among the ones who have shaped Carey’s gymnastics prowess. He is a former gymnast himself and owns a gymnast training facility called 'Carey on Gymnastics.' Brian Carey started gymnastics during high school and even began a bit of coaching at that time. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and became a head coach at a Men’s Club upon returning from service. He owned a gym before Jade Carey had started gymnastics and it was there Carey grew interested in gymnastics jumping over the trampolines arranged by her father and other coaches. Carey’s head coach Tanya Chaplin attended the University of California and has been serving as head coach of the Oregon State Beavers women's gymnastics team since 1997.
