What is Jade Carey's NIL Deal?

Jade Carey is a Professional American Artistic Gymnast. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, on May 27, 2000. Widely considered one of the greatest in her sports, she also has a tucked Kasamatsu move named after her The Carey. Her parents are Brian Carey and Danielle Mitchell-Greenberg. The two owned a gym together, which was a major reason why Carey chose gymnastics as early as 2002. She attended the Mountain Ridge High School and then completed her graduation from the Oregon State University.

Carey is a highly decorated gymnast. So far, she has won a couple of gold medals at the Olympics, seven medals at the World Championship including three gold, and five medals at the NCAA Championships including four gold. During her collegiate career, Carey had scored a perfect 10 in Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor Exercise.

Jade Carey reportedly made $200,000 from her NIL deal with Reebok. NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness deal. The figure she made from the deal with Reebok was reported to be the highest among all athletes from any university based out of Oregon. Reebok is, however, not the only brand Carey has partnered with since collegiate athletes have been made eligible for a name and image deal.

Earlier, the compensation of NCAA players was limited to their scholarships which could not exceed their tuition fees and related expenses. However, before the year 2021-22, almost all major Universities agreed to allow players to profit from endorsements with third parties, which was Carey’s second season. Her first promotion allowed under the NIL was reportedly of Albertsons, while her last sponsorship was for Cracker Jack in April 2023, following which Carey graduated from Oregon State University.

Since graduating from Oregon State University, Carey competed in the US Olympic Team Trials and qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
