Former LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese congratulated Olivia Dunne’s team
Star athlete Olivia Dunne’s LSU Tigers put on a near-perfect performance in front of over 7,600 fans in Fort Worth, Texas. Although, all four teams were fighting hard, and the competition was so close that it could have gone any of four ways.
Despite the disappointment of Oklahoma's loss in the semifinals, LSU coach Jay Clark noted that the emotional intensity of the championship made the victory all the sweeter.
“I think as much as I feel for what happened to Oklahoma in the semifinals,” Jay Clark said. “I think it made for a championship that became so packed with emotion because every team out there believed they could do it, and it was just tremendous.”
Former LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese took to Twitter to congratulate the team,
"NATIONAL CHAMPS!! YESSSSS!!!!! Congrats girliessssss!!!"
However, it remains uncertain whether Dunne will continue with the team for another year. While she has not yet made a decision, she has said that
“I could come back for a fifth year. But I’m just focused on this year.”
