Kayla DiCello has displayed a remarkable performance at the ongoing 2023 Pan American Games so far by clinching three medals, including two gold and one silver medal.
She clinched gold medals in women's artistic individual and team all-around and a silver in women's floor exercise. Along with the 19-year-old, the USA squad has bagged several medals in gymnastics, tallying 12, in both men's and women's events, including seven gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals so far.
On Day 5 of the event, the American squad secured four medals in women's floor and men's parallel bars events. Kaliya Lincoln grabbed a gold medal in the women's floor exercise and was followed by DiCello in second place. Curran Phillips topped the men's parallel bars event and was followed by Colt Walker. Isaac Nunez from Mexico had to settle in the third place.
DiCello shared a picture of the medal winners, which included herself, Kaliya Lincoln, Curran Phillips, and Colt Walker.
"So proud," she wrote.
Along with Lincoln, Jordan Chiles, Zoe Miller, and Tiana Sumanasekera, Kayla DiCello secured a gold medal in the women's team all-around event.
Medals won by American gymnasts at the 2023 Pan American Games
The Gymnastics events at the 2023 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held from October 21 to November 4, 2023, at the Parque Deportivo Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile.
The USA men's gymnastics team, including Cameron Bock, Colt Walker, Curran Phillips, Donnell Whittenburg, and Stephen Nedoroscik grabbed a gold medal in the men's team all-around event. They left behind the Canadian and the Brazilian squad.
Whittenburg went on to win a gold medal in the men's rings event and a bronze medal in the men's individual all-around event. Jordan Chiles won a silver in the women's vault event. She finished behind Brazil's Rebeca Andrade. Moreover, Chiles also secured a bronze in the individual all-around event.
Along with securing a gold in the women's team all-around, Zoe Miller grabbed a gold medal in the uneven bars by leaving behind Andrade and Flavia Saraiva. The USA gymnastics squad dominates the medal tally, followed by Brazil and Canada who have bagged 14 and 10 medals respectively.
