Recently a TikTok video went viral in which a gym-goer was doing a deadlift that weighed 500 lbs.

As the story made the rounds on social media, it quickly went viral, with people applauding his response and supporting him for standing up for himself.

Gym-goer asked to deadlift 500 lbs hits back with befitting response

When he was asked to drop 500 lbs of weight quietly, he reacted with surprise and asked the counter question:

"How can anyone drop this much weight gently?"

It's obvious that the heavier the weight, the louder the sound will be when that weight is dropped. The person who asked to drop the weight quietly later said that the deadlift platform was not appropriate when it clearly was.

He later warned the creator to call the owner of the gym and complain. The creator of the video handled the situation perfectly and without any extreme approach. The incident sparked a conversation about gym etiquette and respect for other lifters.

While it's important to be considerate of others in shared spaces, it's also important to respect the culture of weightlifting and the effort that goes into lifting heavy weights.

Other such instance in gym that have happened recently

There have been several instances in the gym where lifters have faced criticism or confrontation from others.

Caroline Farish, a businesswoman, and teacher, claims she was treated like a "animal" after being barred from her gym after ten years of exercising at the same location.

At the Bannatyne Health Club in Dumfries, Scotland, the 36-year-old woman accidentally broke glass next to a hot tub. She claimed that the incident resulted in the cancellation of her decade-long gym membership, which resulted in her ban from the gym.

Deadlifting slowly can actually hurt your back

Doing a deadlift can hurt your back for a few reasons. First, if you're not using the proper form, the weight can put unnecessary strain on the spine.

Second, if you're not warmed up properly, the sudden movement can pull a muscle or two. Lastly, if you try to lift too much weight without spotters, you could very easily injure yourself. So while weightlifting slowly might not seem like such a big deal, it can be quite dangerous.
