A 56-year-old, Tennessee man, Kevin Maginnis has gone viral on TikTok for his unique all-McDonald’s weight loss plan. Maginnis, who was 238 pounds at the start of his journey, is committed to eating McDonald’s for 100 days as part of his fitness plan to reduce weight and boost his overall cardiovascular health.
Maginnis started documenting his weight loss journey on TikTok in February, using the mantra “French fries to fit guy” and his first video amassed over 500,000 views.
Outlining his plans, Maginnis said:
"I'm going to eat nothing but McDonald's for the next 100 days, but instead of eating everything they give me, I'm going to go ahead and cut the meals in half just to prove to myself and maybe some of the other people watching that it's not as much what you're eating, it's the quantity that we're eating that really jacks us up."
What’s Maginnis’s McDonald’s Diet Strategy?
If you think Maginnis is eating salads, you are absolutely wrong because he is eating McDonald’s full menu, including fries, big macs, and egg McMuffins.
However, the only rule he follows is to eat half, drink only water, no juice or soda, and absolutely no snacks in between. Whatever he is unable to finish during one meal, he finishes during another.
He recently appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight and shared a few more interesting things about his McDonald’s diet.
Kevin Maginnis said that before he eats, he makes sure to “seek the heat,” which means that he waits until he feels the hunger or heat in his stomach before eating any food.
He further added:
"Everyone else calls it hunger. I call it my incinerator turning on to get rid of all the excess and also burn off some of the fat off my body, and then I'll have that next meal."
Is the Diet Working for Him?
The diet is indeed working, and so far, Kevin Maginnis is down by 12.5 pounds already.
In an interview with Carson Daly and Sheinelle Jones on the Today Show, Maginnis shared an update that shocked everyone when he revealed that he had already lost 12.5 pounds in 10 days. He said:
“My belief is that I’ll be down 50 pounds by the end, my health will be better, my bloodwork will be better. And if you don’t believe me, follow along."
And while the McDonald’s diet is working for Maginnis, most doctors and medical experts do not recommend it for three meals a day. Though it may help you lose weight, the side effects of high sodium and sugar diets as well as processed foods must not be ignored.
Side Effects of Fast Food
It is important to note that processed foods are linked to various other health concerns and can lead to side effects such as:
- Digestive issues, including bloating, gas, constipation, loose motions
- High cholesterol levels
- High blood pressure
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Obesity and more
Diets like this also miss out on key nutrients that further lead to more food cravings and rapid weight gain. Nevertheless, if you are eager to start a diet like this, it is best to consult a doctor to determine whether it would be safe for you or not.
