With the induction of a few new youngsters into the Indian Hockey team, we await their performance with mixed feelings – of hope and anxiety. Let us hope Sardar Singh, as the captain of the team, exhibits dynamic leadership on and off the field.
Raghunath, the vice captain of the team, will surely lend him support at every stage of the tournament. The debutants P.T. Rao, Gurmail Singh and Akashdeep Singh, let us hope, will perform to their full potential to protect their place in the team as well.
The combination of experience and youth is a remarkable feature of the newly announced team.
The Indian team will participate in the International Super Series at Perth, in Australia from 22-25 November. The International Super Series will be followed by the FIH Champions Trophy (Men) from 1-9 December. India will face England on 1st Dec, with New Zealand and Germany following on 2nd and 4th December respectively.
