Delhi Waveriders – a Delhi-based franchise owned by the Wave Group – has become the second Hockey India League (HIL) team to launch their official website.
Earlier, Ranchi Rhinos – the only franchise from the eastern part of the country – became the first HIL team to launch their website (www.ranchirhinos.com).
Fans of Delhi Waveriders, who wish to keep track of the team can log to http://www.delhi-waveriders.in.
The site offers a grabby look with a string of cheerleaders and ardent fans greeting you on the homepage.
The Delhi team has the league’s most expensive player in Indian captain Sardar Singh – the Haryana Police DSP was bought for $78,000 (INR 42.5 lacs).
The Waveriders wear a well balanced look having some quality foreign and Indian players in their ranks.
The team boasts of celebrated Dutch drag-flicker Taeke Taekema, German midfielder Oscar Deecke, Pakistan’s Muhammad Rizwan Sr, Indian ace forwards Gurwinder Singh Chandi and Danish Mujtaba.
The Delhi outfit would feature in the league opener against a formidable Jaypee Punjab Warriors side in their own backyard on January 14, which promises to be a cracker of a match.
Three other HIL teams are expected to launch their official websites soon.
