Hockey India League: Delhi SG Pipers vs Hyderabad Toofans, preview, prediction, team news, and streaming details

All eight sides have had a feel of the pitch and the atmosphere at the Birsa Munda Stadium in the Hockey India League, with the teams set to take the field a second time. On Tuesday (December 31), Delhi SG Pipers, currently third on the points table, will take on Hyderabad Toofans who are languishing in seventh place.

SG Pipers, who rode on a Tomas Domene brace to enable a 2-2 draw against Gonasika in regulation time before picking up a bonus point in the shootout, will seek to consolidate their position on the Hockey India League points table.

The Hyderabad side, meanwhile, will be desperate for a win after having gone down 2-3 against a rampant Sharachi Rarh Bengal outfit in their opener.

The Toofans can ill afford to be overreliant on penalty corner veteran Gonzalo Peillat although the Argentine-turned-German's drag-flick was deflected into the the goal by Arthur de Sloover.

A miss from the spot by Maico Casella cost the Toofans dearly, but Pasha Gademan's team has enough quality in the ranks to bounce back in the Hockey India League.

Arshdeep Singh displayed glimpses of his incredible talent against the Bengal Tigers while the hard-working Arthur de Sloover and Zachary Wallace weren't rewarded amply for their persistent efforts in the previous game.

The Toofans will, however, need to contend with Rennie Benjamin who gave a brilliant account of himself in front of the Pipers' goal on Saturday.

Gareth Furlong had an uncharacteristically quiet game while Toman Domene took the drag flicks against Gonasika but the Welshman is certain to come into his own sooner rather than later.

The calming presence of former India coach Graham Reid may well give the Pipers the edge against the Hyderabad side in their second Hockey India League encounter.
