Glasgow, April 29 (IANS) The Indian women’s hockey team suffered a 0-4 thrashing at the hands of Scotland in their second match of the FIH Champions Challenge 1 at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

Scotland made a confident start and proved to be dominating from the very beginning of the game Monday winning a penalty corner in the fourth minute but failed to convert. The Indian goalkeeper denied another goal opportunity to Scotland in the 11th minute as well and the replacement goalkeeper Yogita Bali did an exceptional job in holding Scotland back from opening their account.

Both the Indian goalkeepers proved to be efficient and prevented Scotland from converting most of their opportunities into goal.

It was later in the 30th minute that Scotland’s Nikki Kidd carved her way and pierced in a goal to open the account for her team. Emily Maguire further helped her team take a 2-0 lead in the 33rd minute and Scotland were sitting comfortably at the end of the first half.

In the 41st minute of the game, it was Vikki Bunce’s strike which got Scotland another goal to take a 3-0 lead.

India’s efforts to open their account were crushed by Scotland as all the opportunities were either tackled away or foiled by the Scottish goalkeeper. It was in the 66th minute of the game when Scotland sealed their victory with a 4-0 on board through Becky Ward.

India will now clash against Belgium Tuesday in their next Pool A match.
