Indian hockey juniors camp to start on Saturday

Indian Junior team are relishing the chance to take on big teams in the Sultan of Johor Cup

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS) The Indian men's hockey junior core probables will train at a camp at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here from Saturday to prepare for the fourth Sultan of Johor Cup to be held in Malaysia October 10-20.

India will look to defend their title against Australia, Great Britain, Malaysia, New Zealand and Pakistan. The camp for the 33 probables will continue till October 9.

"The preparatory camp will be much tougher this time around as they will have to live up to the title of being champions of Sultan of Johor Cup. The boys are looking forward to representing the country," Hockey India secretary general Narinder Batra said.

The list of probables:

Goalkeepers: Vikas Dahiya, Subodh Tirkey, Abhinav Kumar Pandey, Jugraj Singh

Defenders: Abhay Ekka, Jarmanpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Anand Lakra, Gurinder Singh, Abhishek Pratap Singh, Baljit Singh, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Dipsan Tirkey, Varun Kumar

Midfielders: Sumit, Simranjeet Singh, Santa Singh, Prakash Barla, Harjeet Singh, S.H. Nilakanta Sharma, Imran Khan, Manpreet, Rajat Sharma, Ajay Yadav

Forwards: Parvinder Singh, Arman Qureshi, Ajit Kumar Pandey, Mohd. Nizamuddin, Pawan Kumar, Raushan Kumar, Janma Majhi, Sumit Toppo, Sumit Kumar.
