On Sunday (October 20), Hockey India named a 22-member squad for the upcoming India vs Germany bilateral series. The two-match series is scheduled to be played at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.
The first match of the hockey bilateral series will be played on Wednesday (October 23), while the second match is scheduled for Thursday (October 24).
Harmanpreet Singh has been named the captain of the Indian Hockey team, while Vivek Sagar Prasad will serve as his deputy. Meanwhile, Rajinder Singh and Aditya Arjun Lagate are the two debutants in India's 22-member squad for the bilateral hockey series.
Speaking about the team selection, chief coach Craig Fulton was quoted as saying to Hockey India in a press release:
"We are very excited to take on Germany in the national capital next week. India and Germany have shared a strong rivalry in recent years and we are upbeat about playing in New Delhi. The team we have picked is an experienced one, with several players from the Bronze medal-winning Paris Olympics squad."
"We will also have Rajinder and Aditya make their international debut during this series, they have shown a lot of promise during the training camp and we share their excitement as they prepare to earn their first jersey with the Indian team," he added.
