Hockey India League (HIL) franchise Ranchi Rhinos has named its coaches and support staff for the inaugural season starting Jan 16, 2013.
The Rhinos appointed experienced David Ian John of Australia as the excercise physiologist, Olympian Baljit Singh Saini as the coach and head coach of South Africa Gregg Clark in the same position.
“I am looking forward to working with Ranchi Rhinos as a coach and I am hungry to win this inaugural tournament. India has best hockey talent available in the world which we will utilise to build a strong team in the inaugural season of HIL,” said Clark in a release.
David Staniforth, who is currently the goalkeeping coach of South Africa, has also joined the Rhinos as a goalkeeping coach and video analyst.
Suresh Chauhan, co-owners of the Ranchi franchisee said: “Ranchi is rich in hockey talent and this is the reason behind our decision to buy the Ranchi team. We will look forward to promote hockey at grass root level not only in Ranchi but also in entire Jharkhand.”
