England thrashed Japan 5-0 on Thursday to set up a last-four meeting with Argentina at the Hockey World League Semi-Final in Malaysia.

Harry Martin made it 3-0 in the 44th minute with a brilliantly-taken backhand goal from an acute angle before Mantell and Dan Fox completed the rout.

Pool A winners Argentina made the breakthrough against South Africa in the 28th minute, with Gonzalo Peillat scoring from a short corner with the help of a deflection.

The 20-year-old scored his second of the game, flicking the ball inside the left-hand post.

Argentina maintained their clean sheet to win 2-0 and advance to face England.

Play continued with Pool B winners Pakistan taking on South Korea.

Kim Young-jin scored the decisive goal as South Korea held on to win 4-3 meaning they will either face Germany or hosts Malaysia in the semi-finals.

Christopher Zeller opened the scoring for the Germans from a short corner in only the 4th minute, but that was only the start of it.

Germany went on to score another 5 goals in the opening 20 minutes.

From there the World number Ones held back a little, while Malaysia tightened their defense.

There were no more goals but Germany secured their place in the semi-finals where they now face South Korea.
