The Indian women face Malaysia in their third round-robin encounter of the Asian Champions Trophy tomorrow.
The Indian girls registered comprehensive victories in their first two encounters and are high on confidence as coach Sjoerd Marijne observed.
India dominated their first encounter against Japan and registered a facile 4-1 victory. Navneet Kaur scored a hattrick in the match which ensured that the Indian eves were off to a perfect start.
India then followed it up with a fluent win against a higher-ranked Chinese side earlier today. Vandana scored a brace while Gurjit Kaur found the net off a powerful drag-flick.
The Indian defence stood firm against a relentless onslaught from the Chinese strikers, and Sunita Lakra's team ensured that they continued their recent dominance over their Asian rivals.
India had defeated Malaysia 4-1 in the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast and will look for a repeat performance tomorrow.
India had beaten Malaysia 2-0 in a group match of the Asia Cup last year, and by an identical margin in the last edition of the Asian Champions Trophy.
The Malaysians have been less than impressive thus far in the tournament going down by an identical 3-1 margin to both Korea and China before redeeming some lost pride by overcoming Japan 3-2 earlier today.
The Indian coach wants his team to tighten up the defence and not give away too many PCs like they did against China.
He also said that irrespective of the level of performance, critical evaluation should always be done with a view to improve, and that is the aim ahead of the encounter with Malaysia.
