The 56-year-old started his coaching career in the NHL with the New York Rangers in the 2017-18 season. David Quinn has managed 271 games so far and has won 114 games at a winning percentage of 0.489. Under his helm, the Rangers qualified for the playoffs in the 2019-20 season but lost all three of their playoff games.

After coaching the New York Rangers for three seasons, Quinn signed with the Sharks. He has led them in 63 games so far, in which the team has lost 45 of their 63 games (including 12 OT losses) with a winning percentage of 0.381.

What's next for the San Jose Sharks?

The San Jose Sharks have had a poor season so far and are placed last in the Western Conference with 48 points. The Sharks have not done well on offense and have only scored 185 goals in 63 appearances this season.

The Sharks have relied on Timo Meier to score goals. He has 31 goals and 21 assists this season. The offensive setup has averaged less than three goals per game this season and will have to improve in the future.

Their defense has not performed well either, conceding over 3.7 goals per game on average this season. The goaltenders have justified their selection in the team and have a save percentage of 0.888 this season.

The Sharks have lost their last five games and will look to save their chances of playoff qualification with a better display in the upcoming challenge. It will be interesting to see how the players react to the 8-3 loss against the Capitals as they play the Winnipeg Jets on March 6, 2023.
