The surprising close to Slammiversary may have presented IMPACT Wrestling with the perfect main event for Bound For Glory. "Switchblade" Jay White shocked the wrestling world by arriving in IMPACT Wrestling at the end of Slammiversary. The Bullet Club leader confronted AEW and IMPACT World Champion Kenny Omega and The Elite.
It looked as if IMPACT Tag Team Champions and former Bullet Club members The Good Brothers wanted to embrace Switchblade with a Too Sweet. Even Don Callis was receptive to the appearance of the NEVER Openweight Champion. However, Omega was the only man hesitant to welcome White with open arms.
The two men have a tumultuous history with one another that included Switchblade defeating Omega for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. Will Jay White align with The Elite or is he here to take down "The Belt Collector? If it is the latter, here is your main event for Bound For Glory.
"Switchblade" Jay White has had a rollercoaster 2021 so far. He started the year in a Match of the Year candidate against Kota Ibushi in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 15, which many called the best match of his career. Despite talks of White moving to WWE, he stayed with NJPW and defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NEVER Openweight Championship in May.
Jay White is the first ever grand slam winner in NJPW history and has filled Omega's shoes as the top gaijin in the promotion. This, along with the inevitable Bullet Club vs. The Elite story, makes for a highly anticipated match that would create buzz for Bound For Glory. IMPACT Wrestling will be delivering a match that AEW and NJPW would die to present themselves.
Kenny Omega doesn't have a lot of IMPACT Wrestling competitors that present a headline worthy contest quite like NJPW's Jay White would be for him. There are a few NJPW stars like Kazuchika Okada, Kota Ibushi and Shingo Takagi that many fans would love to see face "The Cleaner", but the promo ability of Switchblade puts him in a league of his own as Omega's potential Bound For Glory challenger.
Just looking at the buzz created by the Slammiversary ending, this is an easy choice to make for IMPACT Wrestling. Kenny Omega has had a successful reign as IMPACT World Champion and the company has to present a big-time match to continue that success. That is why Kenny Omega vs. Jay White is the biggest potential crossover match for Bound For Glory.
