Since 2018, Campaign Singh has been a steady force in TNA Wrestling. The son of Gama Singh has had notable bouts against the likes of The Rascalz, Chris Bey, Bronson Reed, and Eddie Edwards, among others, in his six-year run.
While he's been sparingly used on TV in recent years, he's hit a real stride as the campaign manager of X-Division Champion, Mustafa Ali, bringing him back to the spotlight as part of one of the hottest acts in the promotion.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Kevin Kellam, Singh spoke on how this new character came about.
"Well I hope that people didn't forget that I have a hell of a lot of money. I may not show it and flaunt it publicly, but I financially contributed to the campaign and wanted to help 'Make TNA Wrestling Great Again.' You said Mustafa is one of the hottest things in wrestling and I figured why not add an element to his game that can be a different touch to what people are used to seeing him with," said Singh. Ali continues to reign supreme as a top champion in TNA Wrestling, and Campaign Singh is aiming to keep it that way.
TNA's Campaign Singh on how his father inspired him to wrestle
Singh debuted in TNA, then IMPACT Wrestling, with former X-Division Champion Rohit Raju as the Desi Hit Squad. The team was managed by Singh's real-life father, Gama Singh, and would be a consistent force throughout the end of the 2010s.
Singh stated that wrestling was the obvious choice for him considering his father's career, which he was no doubt inspired by. He also spent a large part of his life in Calgary, around the famous Hart family in Stampede Wrestling, where his father plied his trade. He also joined Stu Hart where he held gold twelve different times in the promotion.
"For those like yourself who may not know, I grew up in the business. My father was a wrestler, so my earliest memories are wrestling in the locker room with children of the Hart Family because that's where my dad wrestled in Calgary in Stampede Wrestling—and wrestling my brothers in the household or watching my dad. My cousin, growing up, we were always going to be talking about wrestling. Wrestling was always one of those things I was turning to, so when I came of age and finished school, it was time to hit the ring," said Singh. [2:12-2:56]
It's not just Singh's father who shares the squared circle with him, as his cousin, Raj Dhesi pursued wrestling and would become former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal. And with the resurgence of Campaign Singh in TNA this year, we're hoping to see him bring some gold home to the family trophy case.
