A Special Mission Team from the Asian Football Confederation will be visiting India from July 9 to 13 to access the progress the country’s club football is making to professionalise its football to qualify for the continent’s premier club competition, the AFC Champions League in the future.
The five-man delegation will be led by the AFC Research and Support Services Head Steve Kim, who will inspect the two newly inducted I-League clubs – Mumbai Tigers FC and JSW Bangalore- including their stadiums.
The delegation will also verify the previous inspection results with the All India Football Federation and I-League, and hold a workshop on July 12 for all clubs touching on football aspects such as match operation in competitions and media, branding, stadium safety and youth development in clubs.
A meeting with officials of the AIFF and I-League will conclude the visit on July 13.
