What's the story?
German footballer Mats Hummels recently took to micro-blogging site Twitter and interacted with his fans via a Q&A session that evoked a barrage of questions ranging from his football career to his personal life. However, one question related to Bollywood saw Hummels' answer go viral on social media.
Posed with a choice to pick between Sonam Kapoor and Ayesha Takia, who are famous actresses, Hummels chose Sonam, while also mentioning that he had to use the aid of Google to make his pick which sent the social media into a tizzy.
In case you didn't know...
The 29-year-old centre back has acres of experience under his belt having made 62 appearances for Germany since 2010. Having been a member of the national squad which won the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Hummels continues to be a constant presence and is also one of the most experienced players of Bayern Munich.
The heart of the matter
In the early hours of Friday, Hummels opted to interact with his fans through a Q&A session which saw a lot of questions coming his way in just a couple of minutes after the announcement of the session.
One such fan, with the Twitter handle @futbolpogs, posed a question - 'Sonam Kapoor or Ayesha Takia?', prompting an answer from the German footballer.
Quite oblivious to both of the actresses' presence in the glamorous industry, Hummels' opted to go with Sonam Kapoor as his answer but also mentioned that he had to look them up in Google before he came out with an answer and his reply soon went viral.
Stormed by the number of replies and retweets, Hummels followed up that tweet with another stating, "Okay this seems to be a bigger Deal than I thought. I will start a detailed research later", falling prey to the Indian fan following behind both actresses.
What's next?
Hummels will turn out for Bayern Munich when they take on Wolfsburg in their next Bundesliga clash this weekend.
Author's take
It is indeed good to see that Hummels' took off some time to interact with fans across the globe and also go all the way to answer certain questions. However, Hummels' answer would have certainly disappointed Takia fans.
