Former I-League champions Dempo SC have signed IMG-Reliance contracted Sanju Pradhan on loan to strengthen their midfield for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.
Sanju joins five former Pailan Arrows players, who had been signed by Dempo on loan to strengthen their squad in the first season after the departure of long-time coach Armando Colaco and the arrival of Australian Arthur Papas but the transition hasn’t been easy.
24 year old Sanju Pradhan, who prefers to play on the right wing but can also play in central midfield and on the left, had started his career in his home state of Sikkim with the Namchi Sports Hostel before moving on to the Sports Academy of Sikkim.
There Sanju along with Nirmal Chettri was spotted by the then Air India coach Bimal Ghosh in the Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup and he would play for over two seasons for the Airmen before moving to East Bengal Club, where he played five years and also was captain of the red-and-golds.
Last summer like numerous other top Indian footballers, Sanju signed for the new IMG-Reliance promoted Indian Super League, which was subsequently postponed and left the players to search for alternative options in the I-League for the remainder of the ongoing season.
