English football club Reading FC want to set up a football academy in Jharkhand after the rural girls of the Yuwa team, who won the Bronze medal in the Gasteiz Cup in Spain, catching the club’s and the rest of the world’s attention, says a report on Times of India.

The state’s secretary of the department of sports Vandana Dadel said she received a phone call and several emails from British football club Reading FC in which they have expressed interest in setting up a football academy for girls.

“We have invited the officials to visit here and have a detailed talk before finalizing the modalities,” she said.

Reading FC consultant Tomo Namuk told state officials that the club are looking to enhance their global reputation and see huge potential in the tribal girls from Jharkhand.

“Since there is no dearth of talent in state, the RFC experts believe that they can do wonders with their guidance and support,” added Dadel.

“We are about to invite Expression of Interest for establishment of academy in the sport complex so we have asked RFC either to participate in that or they may come up with their proposal to set up a new infrastructure and open the academy as per their plans,” Dadel said as the state offered Reading its Sports Mega complex in Hotwar for setting up the academy.
