India have moved up one place to 154 in the FIFA Rankings according to the latest release, which came out on Thursday. India remain 28th in the Asian Rankings.
The SAFF Championship 2013 runners-up were not in action in the October FIFA match dates but AIFF have already confirmed an international friendly with Philippines (137) on November 15 at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai and are optimistic of finalising another friendly against neighbours Nepal (165) on November 19 in the same venue.
India have lost their last meetings against each of those two nations so besides improving their position in the next release, which is scheduled for November 28, Wim Koevermans’ side will also be aiming for some revenge.
The Dutch coach is still winless in international friendlies having lost each of the previous three but the Philippines game will only be his second home friendly.
After dropping to third spot in South Asia last month, India are back in second place behind Afghanistan, who are 133rd, while Maldives are at 157.
