The invitational tournament in Qatar, in which I-League champions Churchill Brothers are expected to take part, has been postponed.
A source close to Sportskeeda informed on Monday that the tournament, which was supposed to take place towards the end of July, has been postponed to the middle of August for now.
The event is being hosted by Qatar’s Al Ahli and besides Churchill Brothers, the other participants include two clubs from Sudan and one each from the Philippines and Bangladesh.
The Goa League will be in action during August and India internationals Lenny Rodrigues and Denzil Franco will also be on international duty. But the two-time India champions are still willing to participate and make the most of this rare opportunity of playing in a foreign tournament.
Pre-season preparations have already started with the newly-signed Portuguese duo of Amoreirinha and Hugo Machado expected to arrive later this week. Newly-appointed technical director Sukhwinder Singh will join the team on Wednesday.
