East Bengal coach Biswajit Bhattacharya quit on Monday after the city giants' hopes for winning the I-league crown all but vanished after they went down to Bengaluru FC on Sunday.
An East Bengal official said Bhattacharya conveyed his decision to step down in an e-mail to the club.

The club was yet to decide on whether to accept Bhattacharya's resignation as they still have two I-League matches left.
Bhattacharya had taken over as East Bengal coach last June from Dutchman Eelco Schattorie.
