Mohun Bagan are set to sign defender Dhanachandra Singh, who has left United Sports Club after two seasons there.
Dhanachanra becomes the second former United SC player to agree a deal with Mohun Bagan after midfielder Lalkamal Bhowmick, who has already signed with the green-and-maroon brigade
The 27-year-old Manipuri defender mainly operated as a left back in the last two seasons but is quite versatile and can play in central defence also. Mohun Bagan are also in talks with Nigerian central defender Bello Rassaq, who is also set to leave sponsorless United SC.
Newly-appointed technical director Subhash Bhowmick wants to start Mohun Bagan’s pre-season training next month. Several players with whom Subhash Bhowmick worked at Churchill Brothers have been linked with a move to Mohun Bagan including Lebanon international striker Akram Moghrabi.
The Mariners have already released Odafa Okolie, who has joined Churchill Brothers on a three-year-deal, and the Nigeriao duo of Echezona Anyichie and Christopher Chizoba are also set to leave the club. Japanese playmaker Katsumi Yusa is the only foreigner who will be retained.
Subhash Bhomick is the ninth different person to take charge of Mohun Bagan since February 2010 with the club being trophyless for the last four seasons.
