I-League side Shillong Lajong wins exhibition match at Manipur

I-League side Shillong Lajong FC defeated Arambai XI of Manipur by 4-3 in a penalty shootout in an exhibition match. The match was organised by Wangoi Football Association for raising funds for their proposed football academy.

The match was also part of Lajong pre-season preparation.

The scoreline of the match was 1-1 at the time of the final whistle. In the 12th minute of the match, newly recruited foreigner Cornell Glen gave Shillong Lajong lead through a penalty. In the 60th minute, Md. Sahidur scored for Arambai to level the scoreline.

In the penalty shootout that ensued, for Lajong, O. Milan Singh, Kh. Jibon and Samuel Shadap found the back of the net and for Arambai, Md. Imran and Md. Sohail scored. With a 3-2 result in the penalty shootout, Shillong Lajong came out victors.

Lajong will face Dempo SC in their first I-League match of the new season on 24th September at Goa.
