One team from each group and the top five runners up will join hosts Qatar in the 2016 edition of this tournament. Also, the eligibility criteria is that players have to be born on or after January ,1 1993 would be eligible to compete in the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship.

The Indian team will face a stiff test from Syria and Uzbekistan. However, they should expect some points from the game against Bangladesh, even though their neighbours will have the home advantage.
