The India women’s national team dropped two spots to 51 in the latest FIFA Rankings, which came out on Friday. They are 51st among 175 nations now and 11th in Asia.
India last played in May 2013 at the 2014 Asian Cup qualifiers and managed just one point from three games. They were beaten by higher-ranked Myanmar and Chinese Taipei and then held hosts Palestine to a 1-1 draw.
The women’s team need more international exposure to improve further but there is no domestic league while the senior national championship hasn’t been held since 2011.
India will be featuring in the women’s SAFF Championship in Pakistan in November later this year and they are eyeing a hattrick of titles.
