The fourth season of the Indian Super League is all set to get underway, right after India experienced its biggest footballing extravaganza – the FIFA U17 World Cup. The first match of the ISL kicks off on November 17 as ATK take on the Kerala Blasters.
The World Cup got underway with great fanfare, with India showing that the sleeping giant of the world of football has indeed awoken. However, the league structure in the country still remains unclear, with both the ISL 2017 and the I-League set to take place at around the same time of the year.
The fourth season of the ISL is set to be the biggest the tournament has ever experienced so far, with the addition of two new teams – Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC. The former is a newly-formed side and will be run by the business giants Tata Group.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC have become one of the more professionalized clubs in India over the last few years, and have also gone on to win two I-League titles. They have also been India’s sole representative in the latter stages of the AFC Asia Cup, making it to the finals and semifinals, respectably.
Defending champions ATK will have the chance of defending their title in front of their home crowd – the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata – where this season’s final is set to be held.
